The strategic goal of the Eastern Partnership is to promote security and prosperity beyond the European Union’s borders. The 4th Eastern Partnership Summit which will take place in Riga on 21-22 May is an important milestone in moving from vision to action. The Latvian Presidency has added its contribution to making the Eastern Partnership more effective and adapting it to current developments. With several thousand participants attending the Summit over these few days, Riga will play a central role in shaping the EU’s common foreign policy.
